Pierre Imhof here revisits the motifs, techniques and preoccupations of his twenty-year career as a painter: the bright mappings and conventional signs of the more nearly representational beginnings; the obliterating white and muted, uncertain colour of the early Nineties; the cool, steppe-like spaces and sketchy calligraphies that followed; the tender white and delicate flickering grids of the new millennium, developing later into loose weaves and luminous textures; the vibrant urban fabrics and mobile cityscapes of the mid-decade. Registers and timbres earlier explored in isolation come together in a complex yet lyrical musicality.

Pierre Imhof was born in Fribourg, Switzerland, in 1956 and moved to London in 1979. He attended Middlesex University, London from 1983-1986 where he attained a B.A. in Fine Art. Imhof lives and works in London.
