This exhibition will be Kerma’s second solo show at Broadbent. It consists of two series of paintings in which she has explored contrasting theories in abstract painting.

The first series, The Petrushka Series, involves expressive, gestural and impulsive marks on the canvas. These electric blue brush stokes on a surface of a deep blue ground create

The contrasting series Karo, involves the breaking up of the canvas into a structured grid in which she experiments with the juxtaposition of colour in a purely abstract manner. Alongside her customary blue there are also reds, whites and oranges with small glimpses to the abyss of the dark ground behind.
