Manijeh Yadegar
About the artist...
Manijeh's works are a combination of many sources, but start with
the preparation of an impasto ground of one, solid colour, often
an earth hue, which is then worked over with liquid veils of different
densities. This creates a subtle range of tints to emerge from the
common ground.
The resultant marks and washes echo the physical rhythms of the
body. Areas of dark and light take turns in the dominant role. There
is a strong element of spatial interweaving, an interplay between
figure and ground, a contrasting of soft and hard edge changing
the focus from sharp to hazy.
